Candidate interview experiences
First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Notion Labs.
Product Manager
They were very focused on in-person interviews even though their software supports remote work. The salary offered was low for a downtown SF location, with a huge pay range ($60k difference). It felt like a bait and switch because I applied for one position but they considered me for a different one I wasn't interested in. Many of the interviewers seemed to bring an aggressive style from their time at Meta. The CTO, who goes by 'MLN' instead of 'Michael,' and other executives using cartoon avatars on LinkedIn came across as unprofessional and not genuine. It was a disappointing experience overall; the company seems to prioritize its product over its employees.

Product Manager
So the interview process kicked off with a quick chat with the recruiter. Then there was a product sense interview, and I also had to do a technical case study. I met with a bunch of different team members over a few rounds, including one that was all about seeing if I'd be a good culture fit and could collaborate well. The last part was a presentation to the leadership team where I had to work through a product challenge on the spot. It was pretty intense and made me really dig deep into product thinking, show off my communication skills, and prove I could handle messy problems.
- What are your ideas for making Notion's onboarding better for people just starting out?
Product Manager
