I applied for a job online and got an email confirming they received my application. But then, just minutes later, I got another email saying the position was on hold because of foreign aid cuts. I'm wondering why the job is still listed on the website if they immediately put it on hold. It feels like a waste of applicants' time. This was for a job in Mexico and it seemed like NRC HR wasn't very professional in handling this.

The interview process involved an oral interview, which was a bit lengthy. The questions weren't too hard and mostly focused on interpersonal skills, like managing stress and workloads.

So I had an online abilities test in Excel before anything else. Then a couple of weeks later, I had an online interview. It was with three people from the company, I think HR, the MEAL manager, and someone else. The interview itself was pretty civil. The only big issue I had was just how long the whole recruitment process took. I applied way back in early May, had the interview mid-June, and only found out the result in late July.

I went through two rounds for this job. First was a written test, then a zoom call. The written part asked me to write a briefing note about Storm Dujuan in the Philippines. I had to cover the crisis overview, what the affected people needed, and any issues that might mess with aid. There was also an excel task where I had to work with a dataset and interpret it. A bonus question was about data viz using my excel work, if I had time. The whole test was supposed to be done in 2 hours. They mentioned getting back within two weeks after the zoom call. Three weeks passed with no word, so I had to chase them up. Turns out they'd already hired someone, which they told me pretty dismissively. Felt like my time wasn't valued.
