A department manager I previously worked with highly recommended me. The department head called me and we set up a Skype interview because I would be working remotely. The interview was about 45 minutes and they asked general questions about my experience relevant to the job and my future goals. It was basically a screening to check if I had the fundamental knowledge for the role.

I submitted my materials online. I had a couple of phone calls with the Academic Dean. Then I had a two-day campus visit where I met with the President and CEO. I also met with some majors and faculty. I got to see the campus and the city. It was a positive experience overall.

To start she asked about me, got to know me personally and we had a pretty lengthy conversation. What I took away from the interview was that the most important thing is to have a great work ethic, and have a personality to fit in with the staff members. After our conversation she asked a few common interview questions and it pretty quickly turned into when I was available. Because it is a college campus and the directors are often teachers, I had known my director beforehand, which I think is why the interview process was so lenient.
