First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Northwest Federal Credit Union.
MSR I
I interviewed with the manager and assistant manager. I got there on time but had to wait for the assistant manager to finish their lunch. They started off with a slightly passive-aggressive comment like "so are you off work today". The interview felt more like an interrogation, and they seemed to question my experience with personal loan applications, asking repetitive questions as if they didn't believe me. When it concluded, I had to initiate the handshake, and they didn't escort me out, which felt a bit unprofessional and overly casual.

Project Manager
I've honestly never interviewed with a company like this since the 90s! My recruiter, John Jackson, is amazing. Usually, you have so many questions, but from the jump, I had none. The way they explain everything is perfect and exactly what other companies should be doing. It's rare for me to have zero questions, but this was the first time since the 90s! Their whole recruiting thing is super detailed, professional, and friendly, with great follow-up. The company culture feels like a family, and that's the kind of place where people really thrive and grow. They clearly value their employees as their top asset.
- Once they know you're skilled, the interview focuses on whether you fit in, using situational and behavioral questions.
- Technical questions will be based on your previous work.
- The people are friendly and not intimidating; they genuinely live and breathe teamwork, unlike other companies that just say they are.
Mortgage Loan Processor
The whole thing took several weeks. The online application itself was really long and asked for the same info multiple times. About a week after submitting the application, I got an online test, which was also a super long process of asking the same questions in different ways. It makes me wonder if companies that rely on these tests really want a person or just a robot.
- In five years, where do you envision yourself being professionally?
- Would you be open to working various shifts, which may include weekends?
- Can you share an example of a particularly difficult customer service situation you encountered and explain how you managed it?
Consumer Loan Underwriter
I had a couple of interviews with two guys who were pretty nice, but I didn't get the job because I didn't have experience with a specific type of loan. I tried to reach out to someone in HR because I thought my skills might be a good fit for other roles, but they never replied to my email. It's kind of rude and unprofessional, especially since she contacted me on LinkedIn a while back. I'm done trying with them.
