Candidate interview experiences
First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Northrop Grumman.
Computer Engineer
Manager asked software questions about object-oriented programming. Then digital questions about ASICs and FPGAs were asked. After that, we discussed FSMs and computer networking. I also asked the manager about his work schedule and commitments.
- Can you explain how to inherit variables from one class to another?
Engineer
I had a phone interview with several managers and engineers. They asked me about my education, interests, work experience, and how I collaborate with others. I also got to ask them some questions at the end. HR got back to me within a week after the interview.
- Can you describe a difficult problem you've successfully solved?
Engineer
I chatted with a recruiter at a career fair and went to some info sessions, and then I got an interview. Everyone at this company was really nice, and my interviewer was too. But the manager I spoke to wouldn't be my direct boss, and they couldn't tell me who would be. I would have loved to work here, but the job was in a super expensive area for the salary they offered, and the recruiter wasn't budging on price. Also, the relocation help wasn't great since it's 2000 miles away and there was no signing bonus. If you do their pathways program and rotate, you get less and less relocation money each time.
