Got approached by a recruiter on LinkedIn and went through a few interviews. The job itself sounded great, and the interview process felt reasonable, not like a bunch of the same stuff over and over. Started with a 30-min call with the recruiter about my general background and experience; they were upfront about it being a startup. They sent over a 3-hour design challenge, and were cool about me getting an extension because of other work I had going on. The challenge itself was pretty standard and didn't really touch on any real business stuff, so it felt fair. A few days later, I had a panel interview with the director of product, a design lead, and a PM lead. It was a mix of questions about my skills and leadership, how I approach my work, and how I collaborate with others. The panel felt really open and fair, and I got plenty of time to ask my own questions about the company. Everyone seemed genuinely happy to chat, which was a nice vibe! Got an offer just 2 business days after that.
- Can you share an instance where you made a significant mistake and describe how you managed it?

The interview process started with a chat with the COO, Justin Adler. It felt a bit odd and wasn't super comfortable, mostly involving me just answering his questions. He wasn't the friendliest and mentioned that sometimes at North One, dedication means working beyond the usual hours. After that, I had a take-home challenge to finish within 5 days. Once I sent it in, I didn't hear back at all. I found this really unprofessional, especially since I put time and effort into the challenge. They should have at least let me know either way.

I applied online and then had a phone interview. It felt very scripted and the recruiter asked a lot of questions about my background, but didn't share much about the company. Right after that, they sent me a design challenge. I submitted it about a week later, but they decided not to move forward without explaining why, and they didn't give any feedback even when I asked.
- To complete a design challenge.
- To submit a design challenge.
