So, you usually start with a quick call from the recruiter, just to see if you meet the basic needs and are actually interested. If that goes well, you'll have a deeper chat with the hiring manager or some of the team. This is where they dig into your past work, how you solve problems, and how you'd handle real business stuff. For jobs dealing with numbers or data, there might be a technical test or a case study to check your analysis skills. Sometimes there's a last chat to see if you'd fit in with the team and how you communicate before they decide.

The whole experience was super chill, everyone was really nice and laid back. They asked a bunch of questions about my personality and my past work. I got hired right away and even went in person to drop off my resume. Overall, it was a really good time.

I interviewed for a Marketing Advisor role and had three interviews in one week. After two weeks with no word, I followed up because I had another job offer and was hoping to hear back. They said they were still deciding and I could still be considered if I wanted, which I agreed to. During the interviews, they kept pushing me towards a different, less desirable role that involved frequent travel across Canada and one I didn't even apply for. They admitted it would be harder to fill. I never got a final answer, accepted or rejected, which I thought was unprofessional given the time I put into preparing and interviewing.

The job title changed right away from Project and Facilities Manager to Regional Facilities Manager. I thought it was a mid-level role needing some PM and operational experience, and that's what I went in with. Then they asked some basic technical questions about hydronic heating systems. I'm experienced with boiler systems, so that's fine, but they seemed more interested in someone who could train others on troubleshooting rather than someone to establish consistent processes and procedures for staff. That's when I checked out. While I have a strong technical background, their question made me realize they lack organizational structure and knowledge. The interviewer, a director, didn't seem very knowledgeable about computerized management systems or modern organizational methods. My impression was that people got promoted without much relevant background. They openly admitted to being a bunch of "cowboys." They do use the STAR method for interviews. If you enjoy working in a disorganized environment, this might be the place for you.
