I applied online at the end of January. The interview happened about five weeks later, and I got the offer a week after that, in the second week of March. The whole process took a while – there was a reference check where they need 5 references, 2 of which must be supervisory, and an email is sent for 'anonymous' feedback. Then there was a background check, a physical, and labs. It really seemed to drag, and there were no definitive start dates, which made it hard to know when to give notice to my old job and my apartment manager. I ended up just hoping everything would line up for the new employee orientation in April, which starts the first week of every month. My last day at my old job passed without a start date for the new one, but I was able to start in April, although it was cut pretty short. I think you can be hired and start working without going to NEO first, but it depends on department approval. The interview itself was with the manager, who was very nice. We started on time and mostly talked about the depth of my acute care experience, my education, how much orientation I'd get, and the certifications and education needed for that unit. The rest of the interview was mostly behavioral questions and self-assessment, focusing on the strengths I thought I'd bring to the unit/organization. They took me on a quick tour of the unit and asked me to apply for some other openings on that unit, which I did.

It was quick, about average. We talked about past experiences and the conversation flowed well. There were at least 5 questions. The interview included a manager, a lead, and a floor nurse. They were all nice and seemed to be assessing if candidates would be a good fit.

It was like match day, but with speed panel interviews. Each table had 2-3 interviewers, and you got 8 minutes at each. Other candidates were in the room, answering questions at the same time. It was loud and a bit chaotic, but still fun.
