Candidate interview experiences
First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at North Star Resource Group.
Intern
The interview process included two phone interviews initially, followed by an in-person interview. The in-person part was a 30-minute chat with just the recruiter where they asked straightforward questions about my future goals and why I'm interested in financial advising.
- Can you share your biggest failure and biggest accomplishment from your previous job?
- What is your motivation for pursuing a career in financial advising?
- What are your future career aspirations?
Intern
There were 3 interviews in total, starting with a Recruiter, then a District VP, and finally the Director of Development. These interviews were conducted in person (on campus), over the phone, and via Skype, respectively. For an internship, they're really focused on understanding your attitude and outlook, rather than your technical background.
- What is your definition of leadership?
Intern
First I got a call asking me to take a personality test. This test is long and it's pretty easy to fail, actually. It says about 80% of people fail it. If I had passed, the interview process would have been long and included sales pitches and meetings with senior executives.
- Regarding the personality test, which answer do you think employers would prefer to hear?
