Candidate interview experiences
First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at North Highland.
Management Consultant
It began with a 30-minute phone call where they asked me some basic questions about my background, my experience from university and work, why I want this job and to join the company, and some market knowledge questions. The interviewers were really nice. After that, the next step was an individual assessment, then a group presentation with other candidates, and finally, a last interview that was pretty similar to the first one.
- What makes you a good candidate?
Strategy Consultant
So, the first part was a behavioral interview, mostly to see if I'd be a good cultural fit. Then, the second round involved both behavioral questions and a case study. The case study itself took about 45 minutes and wasn't heavy on math, focusing more on my thinking process.
- Why are you interested in North Highland?
Change Management Consultant
The initial part of the interview process felt okay. I thought the first interview went well and we had a good chat. The feedback given was fair, and I should have put more effort into preparing why I wanted the job. The second interview, however, was unprofessional. One of the interviewers even said, “I wouldn’t be able to answer a question like that.” I get that they might have asked tough questions to see my reaction, but then I didn’t get to explain my motivations. The questions were pretty weird, and it felt like I was set up to fail. I only got asked “Why do you want to work for North Highland?” by the other interviewer right at the end, and it seemed like an afterthought. I also had to follow up several times about the status of my application. After discussing it with my family and friends, I was already leaning towards declining the offer even before knowing the outcome because of my experience. Still, I’m disappointed with how it turned out.
- Tell me a joke.
- Share an instance where you embarrassed yourself.
- What kind of legacy do you think you will leave behind?
