First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Norfolk Southern.
Internal Auditor
After the interview, the company ghosted me, so I'm writing this review. An admin set up a video chat panel with four interviewers. Since I was traveling, it was a video call. I sent thank you notes right after. Four weeks went by, so I emailed everyone for an update, but got no reply. It's been five weeks and they couldn't even send a rejection. I interviewed with four director/VP level people. Totally disrespectful! Beware if you're interested in Internal Audit/Ethics & Compliance roles under the current management.
- What's motivating your job search?
Internal Audit Intern
I talked to a recruiter at my school's career fair back in September, and then I applied online. Not long after applying, maybe a couple of days, I got an email to do an online exam. It had some general questions and asked how I'd respond to them. A few weeks later, they emailed to see if I could do a phone interview. It was a pretty standard behavioral interview with the recruiter. The next part was supposed to be a 2-day interview process in the city where the internship would be. But, I ended up withdrawing before that happened. All in all, it was a good experience, and the recruiter was really professional and quick to reply to my questions.
- Can you start by telling me about yourself?
- Describe a time you had to handle a packed schedule and explain your time management strategy.
- How do you feel about working with and sharing your thoughts with people older than you?
Internal Auditor
Applied online and got an email about an online test for the corporate environment. About 3 weeks later, a recruiter emailed for a phone interview. It was a 30-minute call with standard questions about experience and interest. A week later, I was called for an in-person interview at the Norfolk Office. I met with the recruiter and two department employees. They explained the job role and daily work. I was asked questions about my college education and interest in the position. I got an offer 2 hours after leaving the interview.
