First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Noodles & Company.
Assistant General Manager
The interview process was lengthy. They were looking for specific keywords and phrases related to their business. There were also too many personal questions, and the whole process felt unorganized. Having three interviews was repetitive and a waste of time. The process should align with industry standards, involving only two interviews with multiple people interviewing simultaneously.
- Could you tell me about yourself?
Assistant General Manager
I applied online and got a call from a recruiter within a week. The recruiter asked basic questions, explained the job and benefits, and then asked more in-depth management questions about my leadership style, team size, and some hypothetical scenarios. They felt I was a good fit and asked about my availability for an interview. I then interviewed with the District Manager (DM), who asked some repeat questions for consistency, along with questions about my hobbies and downtime. After about 45 minutes, the DM suggested I meet with the Area Manager, which happened a couple days later. The Area Manager asked about myself, my aspirations, hiring preferences, and repeated some previous questions. This meeting also lasted about 45 minutes, after which they said they'd discuss with the DM. A few hours later, the DM called and asked me to schedule a "job preview" at a local restaurant for a couple of hours. During this preview, they showed me around, introduced me to team members, and had me work a station during lunch to see how quickly I learn and if I liked the job. Afterward, the DM asked about my experience, my observations during the preview, and what I found interesting. Finally, the DM extended an offer, which I accepted the next day.
- Could you tell me about the size of the team you currently lead?
- Describe how you've handled conflicts among team members.
- What potential challenges do you anticipate in this role?
