Candidate interview experiences
First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Nomura.
Finance Analyst
It was a 3 round interview process. They mostly wanted to understand my background and experiences to see if I was a good fit. There were some technical questions but no case questions. Overall it was a decent experience. The first round was with my direct reporting manager, the second with a co-reporting manager, and the final round was with an MD.
- Can you tell me about your experience with dashboarding and what your contributions were?
Finance Analyst
Campus recruitment had 2 interview rounds on the same day. The first round was a technical interview, very basic difficulty with 3 questions total, lasting about 7 minutes with the Executive Director (15 years experience). The job is actually quite different from typical B School or CA course work. The second round was an HR interview for about half an hour, over food and coffee in a relaxed setting, with questions about family. It didn't really require much intellectual effort to fake answers and please a junior associate. Off-campus, you mostly get in through personal contacts and consultants. There might be telephonic, video, or in-person interviews, potentially more rounds with harder questions depending on the manager's intelligence.
- Can you identify and explain the payoff graphs for derivative strategies?
Corporate Finance Intern
There were 3 interview rounds in total. 2 interviews were online, and then there was a super day with 3 more interviews. Everything was online because of COVID. The super day interviews were with 2 VPs and 1 MD.
