The whole thing took about 8-10 weeks and had 4 rounds. It was pretty chill, mostly talking about my research, giving a presentation on what I've done, and then chatting about where I see research going in the future.

The hiring process involved two interviews: first with the team leader, then with a senior team member. It was a conversational style and focused on my past research. The whole process from the first chat to getting the offer took about 4 months.

I didn't get past the first screen. I had a Zoom meeting with the researcher who was leading the Co-op. They looked through my resume, asked me to talk about my projects, and share my experience with training and fine-tuning LLMs. Since there was only one spot, it was a really laid-back interview. The lead researcher was super nice, but I'm not sure if that's the case for other roles.

Behavioral Technical Presentation

The interview was set up in two parts: a 10-minute intro of my experience followed by a 35-minute Q&A. They didn't specify the Q&A format beforehand. On the day, they asked if I had slides prepared for my intro, which I hadn't because I wasn't told to, and it was a bit frustrating. The interview felt disorganized; instead of explaining the role, they kept asking me what I'd like to do as an intern there, as if I was supposed to propose projects or new ideas. This is different from my past internships where interns usually join pre-defined, ongoing projects. Some questions tried to steer towards technical topics but were vague and unhelpful, like asking about signal processing techniques for sensor fusion.
