Software Engineer
A recruiter messaged me on LinkedIn, and instead of scheduling a recruiter screen, they tried to call me randomly for three days straight, or would say they would call and then not. Eventually, the hiring manager was interested, so we set up a technical interview. The recruiter sent a list of times, I picked one that worked, and they scheduled it for a time they hadn't even offered. The technical interview was super technical and hard. The interviewer seemed condescending. She asked about hashmap time complexity, and when I guessed, she sounded skeptical, making me feel dumb. Then she asked about my undergrad and if they taught me data structures. After, I checked and wasn't wrong, so I don't know why she doubted me. There was live coding, not LeetCode style. I followed up after 1.5 weeks and the recruiter said they wanted another interview and sent times. I replied with my availability, and then heard nothing back.
- Could you tell me the time complexity for getting an element from a hashmap?
- And what about the time complexity if the element is not found?
- Can you discuss your undergraduate studies and how your computer science program covered data structures?
Analyst
I applied to this consulting role but it turned out to be in the financial industry and the role sounded more like a data scientist/engineer. I'm not sure what the job actually is, so I wouldn't recommend it unless it's your specific interest. The interview was an hour and a half at my school and had two case interviews. The first case involved market sizing and increasing sales, and it followed frameworks from Case in Point. Then, I was asked about Chipotle and their loyalty program. The second case had two parts: first, solving for x with a given z score, standard deviation, and mean (the formula was provided), and second, considering the financial impact of Chick fil a opening on Sundays, including numerical estimation and other considerations. I haven't heard back, and I don't really care as the job isn't for me. The interviewers were nice and had an engineering-like personality. I think I got the interview partly because I'm a female, as there aren't many women at the company.
- Regarding Chipotle's loyalty program, why offer both paper cards and an app?
- Could you estimate the market size for a standard pizza restaurant in your city?
- Can you determine why Chipotle would offer both paper loyalty cards and a mobile app?
Data Engineer
Got a call from a recruiter out of the blue about 2.5 months after applying. His mailbox was full so I had to talk to him right then. Talked to the recruiter for about 10-15 mins. He was young, talked like he didn't know much about tech, and gave me incorrect info about the hiring manager. I told him about my past projects. He lied about the hiring manager being fast to interview. I'm not gonna do their interviews, they just steal your work, I've done that before.
- Did you use any SQL?
Business Technology Analyst
They emailed me to set up a phone screen, which I did with the Biz tech manager, Mike Garcia. After that, I had a face-to-face interview that was about 4 hours long and included 3 rounds. The first round was with the Manager, and the second and third rounds were with senior analysts from the team.
- Could you tell me about your resume, work experience, and projects?
- How would you write test cases/plans for a bank statement payment scenario?
- Can you create a UML diagram for the Amazon item ordering process?
