I had a phone screen with a recruiter for about 30 minutes where we talked about the company. Then there was an on-site part which was a personality/cultural fit interview for about an hour. We discussed my past projects and my motivation for seeking a new role, and I had plenty of time for questions. After that, I had a technical interview. They gave me a front-end mock web page and asked me to think about how I would design a backend system for it. This technical interview lasted about an hour, during which I explained my proposed database schema and the object-oriented code to go with it. I thought it was a good interview for a backend role, balancing effort with the chance to show my skills. It wasn't tied to specific technologies and focused on my DB design approach. I really enjoyed the technical part. The overall process was mostly good, but there seemed to be a gap between the recruiter in California and the hiring manager in Atlanta. I followed up with the recruiter multiple times and usually got decent feedback. Eventually, the recruiter said I should expect a call from the hiring manager. It's been over a month, and I haven't heard back. I get that it's tough to update every candidate, especially if they aren't moving forward, but it's really disappointing to wait for a follow-up that never comes. It seems like a great company, but they need to improve their candidate experience.

The interview process included an initial Recruiter/Head of People chat, followed by a Hiring Manager meeting. Then there was a Technical architecture discussion. The final round was meant to cover more technical and culture aspects. I spent time creating an architecture diagram for the discussion, but unfortunately, the night before, I was informed they had selected another candidate. While I'm glad they found a good fit, it was a disappointing experience, wasting my time preparing something I didn't get to present. I hope they refine their process to be more considerate of candidates' time.

This interview experience was a complete waste of time. The offered salary was too low for the demands placed on their engineers. Ultimately, I accepted a position with another company that valued my skills appropriately.
