Had two phone interviews at the start, and they were really engaging and nice. My interviewer was encouraging and positive, which is rare when job hunting. It just made me more interested in working for the company. I really can't say enough about how honest and personable the interview process was with this company.

Sitting down with upper management can be nerve-wracking. But when you realize in the first 5 minutes that these suits are just like you, you know you'll be a good fit. I did everything they asked, going above and beyond, but I was aware of this requirement before starting.

Behavioral Other

It was pretty informal and unsophisticated. They don't seem to put much structure or thought into their one-size-fits-all approach. Even receptionists get asked questions meant for engineers. You'll meet the owner to get a feel for how you'll be treated. No background check or drug screen needed, just a decent driving record.

We had lunch with three Principals and then a follow-up in-person meeting with a Principal professional about technical stuff. After that, they did reference checks, talking to people we both know from clients. Finally, the owner called to confirm they wanted to hire me.
