First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at NII Holdings.
Content Marketeer
So, if you're looking to join NII Holdings, the whole process usually takes about four to eight weeks. It's broken down into four main parts: first, you apply online, then there's a phone interview, after that, some pre-employment assessments, and finally, an in-person interview. Read on to get the details on each step.
- Tell me about a time you faced a challenge and how you handled it.
Product Manager
I applied online and had a phone interview. Then I flew to Reston for interviews with 6 people, including VPs, the hiring manager, and potential colleagues. Although the interviews went well and I had a good vibe with some of them, the hiring manager promised a decision by a certain date. After that date passed with no word, I followed up multiple times via phone calls and emails because I had another job offer with an expiring deadline. Unfortunately, I was left completely in the dark and never received a decision. Given this was a mid-level role reporting to a VP, this lack of communication was highly unprofessional, especially after I invested time and money to travel for the interviews. At the very least, HR could have sent a rejection email.
- Tell me about your background in product management and your knowledge of our company's unique technology.
Information Technology
I applied for a job in their US IT department. This company has a corporate IT department and then country-specific IT departments. They reached out for an interview. We had to reschedule once due to a conflict, but the process was efficient. I arrived for the interview. The company is located in Reston inTown Center, with free parking at the Reston Mall lot. The reception area was clean and the receptionist was friendly. I interviewed for about an hour. I was asked a variety of questions about my industry experience, technical skills, and ability to solve business problems. The company is currently facing some challenges in its markets, and the interviewer was open about these. I was told there were three other candidates and a decision would be made within two weeks. This transparency and quick timeline were appreciated. The interviewer was professional.
- Tell me about your experience in the industry.
- What technical skills do you possess?
- How would you approach solving business problems?
Project Manager
I first had a call with someone who did an initial screen, asking general questions about my qualifications. Then I spoke with a recruiter who was working with the hiring manager; they asked some more in-depth questions. After that, I met with the hiring manager. They wanted to know about how I handle managing projects of different sizes, scopes, and budgets. Finally, I had a meeting with a peer.
- How do you deal with a vendor whose scope is exceeding their budget?
