Chief of Staff
The initial HR conversation was pretty standard until I started asking questions. When I inquired about the company culture, the CEO's leadership approach, or how executives work together, the answers I got were basically all the same: the person in this role needs to be someone who can not only plan things but also get them done fast. It felt like they either didn't really know the role themselves or didn't want to say more than a canned response, which made me wonder about how upfront they were and if the expectations were clear.
- Could you share your background and the reasons behind your career path decisions?
Market Development
I sent in my application online with my resume and cover letter. A hiring manager contacted me a few days later. We scheduled an in-person interview and I got the job after that first one-on-one meeting.
- Can you tell me about your past experiences?
- Were you involved in any college organizations?
Marketing Manager
A recruiter reached out and I spoke with the VP of People on a Sunday. They seemed to need someone urgently and asked me to come in for an in-person interview with the VP of People and VP of Operations two days later. It went well, and then I was asked to meet the CEO two days after that. They said I'd hear back the following week, but then I got a call saying they had to finish other scheduled interviews before deciding because I was the first person they interviewed for this new, not-yet-defined role. I followed up two weeks later for an update but haven't heard back. The people I met were nice, but I wouldn't recommend interviewing here because they didn't seem to respect my time with their last-minute requests and never followed up.
- How would you initially approach this new role, and what would be your plan B if your first approach didn't succeed?
Sales Development Representative
The first interview is all about just listening to you and your career arch. It's more about your soft skills and likability. If you can get introduced by someone, you are much better off!
- Can you describe the most recent deal you successfully closed?
- Could you share details about your past employment experiences?
