Technical Case

I applied for the Junior Consultant role advertised in October 2025. The recruiter sent an email asking me to do a psychometric assessment within 3 days, which was stressful but I did it. After that, I waited over a month to hear back. Then the recruiter emailed asking if I was still interested. I said yes and had an introductory call with them. After that, I was invited to an online interview a few days later. The interview was on a Tuesday and they said I'd hear back by the end of the week about the next step, which was a case study. I emailed the recruiter the following Monday because I hadn't heard anything, but they never replied and ghosted me. I found out later they reposted the job on LinkedIn.

It started out well, with the first recruiter being transparent about compensation expectations and saying they were within budget. But then I got switched to a new recruiter, and things got weird. This new recruiter said my expectations were 'outside budget,' which contradicted the first person. After I pushed back and reminded them of the prior conversation, they said they'd check, and then confirmed on a video call that my original request was actually okay. They even mentioned a possible 4% raise that would be discussed later. But just five minutes after that call, I got an email saying the offer was final and could even be lowered if I didn't accept. Even with all that, I said I was still interested and just needed a formal written offer, which is normal before quitting a job. Instead of a response or any explanation, I just got a generic rejection email the next day. It was confusing and unprofessional, especially since they'd told me an offer existed but never sent it.
