It was a pretty standard interview, make sure you know your fundamental concepts. My interview focused on strings, but I'd prepare for arrays and hash maps too. They let me choose the programming language. The interviewer was cool and let me work through my problem-solving process. I felt like I did okay, but their response time was slow, though they did mention that upfront. By the time I heard back, a lot of other internship opportunities had already passed, so it's probably a good idea to keep applying elsewhere while you wait. The position itself was eventually called off because of the pandemic. One weird thing though, ever since I interviewed, I've been getting emails from political campaigns from random places. It seems like unsubscribing leads me to NGP VAN, making me think they got my email from my application. Even though I generally agree with NGP VAN's political leanings, I don't think I should be contributing to Colorado's elections as someone from California. It's a simple unsubscribe process, but if the ethical side of it bothers you, there's the context.

I had two phone interviews. The first was with a director in their digital department where they asked about my resume and then some technical questions on Javascript and OOP. The second interview involved solving two standard programming exercises over the computer while on a call with the interviewer. It was a bit awkward over the phone but they were helpful.

I met the recruiter at a job fair 3 weeks ago, then I emailed my resume a week ago and got a technical phone screened by her a few days ago. The phone screen was through GoToMeeting and I was asked to solve the FizzBuzz challenge in a collaborative text editor.

Confirmed questions1 question
  • Solve the FizzBuzz challenge by writing a function that prints integers from 1 to n. If n is divisible by 3, 5, or 15, print specific characters instead of n.
