First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at NFM Lending.
Marketing Coordinator
I saw this job opening and applied because of my background. Brooke, the recruiter, called me within five minutes of me sending my résumé. After she talked to me, she passed my info along. The Chief Compliance Officer and General Counsel wanted to talk to me, so we scheduled a phone interview. It lasted an hour, and right after I hung up, Brooke called to invite me for an in-person interview. It went really well, and she called me the next day to offer me the job. This whole process with NFM Lending was surprisingly easy and pleasant. They were professional but also made me feel comfortable.

Human Resources Coordinator
I was first contacted by Bernadette Pearson, the HR Director at NFM, through LinkedIn. After I replied, she quickly arranged a phone interview. During this call, Bernadette thoroughly explained the role, addressed all my questions, and provided details about NFM's company culture, which she described as family-like. We then scheduled an in-person interview at the office. Upon arrival, the receptionist greeted me warmly and offered refreshments while I waited. Throughout my wait, staff frequently checked if I needed anything, creating a very friendly atmosphere. This friendliness has continued even after I started; colleagues and even the President, Jan Ozga, make an effort to greet everyone and foster a sense of belonging. My interviewers were Bernadette, Rachel, and Sandy from HR. They asked several questions, took the time to understand me better, and elaborated on the position's responsibilities. They were very helpful in answering my questions. Afterward, Bernadette gave me a tour of the office and showed me my potential workspace, giving me a clear idea of the job. The company truly values its employees, with the President personally engaging with staff daily and complimenting their work. My manager, Bernadette, has an open-door policy, offers feedback, and provides hands-on training, making me feel welcome and supported. Executives also check in on employees, and my immediate colleagues are always willing to assist. NFM's reputation as a top workplace is well-deserved, and I'm very pleased with my experience here.
- The questions asked were quite standard and straightforward.
Human Resources
I was emailed by a recruiter to schedule a phone interview with her, which went well. The next day, I got another email to set up a second phone interview with the department supervisor. That also went well, and she said she was impressed and wanted to schedule a face-to-face interview. The recruiter then arranged the in-person interview, giving me two date options. I picked one and confirmed. Two days before the scheduled date, the recruiter called asking to move the interview up a day. At that point, I figured they'd already found their candidate and just wanted to get it done. I agreed. On the interview day, I arrived early. While waiting in the lobby, the receptionist was on her phone, having a personal chat, which felt unprofessional. A few minutes later, the recruiter and supervisor greeted me. The interview was very brief; they didn't seem engaged with me, which was surprising after the positive phone calls. They made me feel awkward and uncomfortable, almost like they had their chosen person and were just wrapping things up. When it ended, they both walked behind me as we stood up, and I had to turn around to shake their hands, as if they wanted me to leave quickly. So, the phone interviews were positive, but the face-to-face one was a negative experience.

Office Manager Marketing Assistant
I saw the job posting online and reached out right away. The whole interview process was really nice. I went in for my first interview and met Aubriel, who was a great person to talk to. We discussed the job and my previous roles. The following week, Aubriel contacted me to set up an interview with two Branch Managers. I was a bit nervous interviewing with 4 people, but it was actually very relaxed and comfortable. We just talked about my previous work experience, and they shared some good and bad points about the job. Each interview lasted about 45 minutes. It was a really great experience!
- Could you introduce yourself and explain why you're a strong candidate for this role?
