Account Executive
I was contacted by e-mail and we set up a phone interview. It went well and I felt prepared to answer everything. It wasn't as in-depth as I thought it would be. They were really good at answering my questions and gave me more details than I expected. The only downside is they didn't explain why I wasn't selected and didn't reply to my follow-up emails about the decision.
- Can you tell me about yourself and your past experiences?
- How has your education prepared you for this role?
Web Marketing Analyst
A recruiter reached out after seeing my resume. The recruiter was cool and professional, which boosted my confidence. Then I had a phone interview with the Senior Marketing Analyst. Honestly, she seemed pretty checked out during the call. She described her day-to-day, and it sounded like she was basically an executive assistant, and I'd be doing the actual core work of her role. After that chat, I definitely didn't want the job, and I didn't get it.
- Have you ever troubleshooted backend development?
Marketing
I got an email to set up the interview. When I got there, the office was a big open space on a whole floor of the building, with cubicles really close together and it was super quiet. It was kinda awkward walking in and talking to someone who wasn't a receptionist to say I was there for the interview. Two managers interviewed me in a conference room that was too hot and stuffy, which made it uncomfortable from the beginning. They didn't seem to have much interview experience and seemed pretty clueless. They ended up talking more than I did and just went on tangents, which made me lose interest a few times. The whole atmosphere of the place and the two interviewers made me put in less effort and feel disinterested, so it was a pretty bad interview experience and I didn't want to continue with it. I wasn't called back for another interview, which is what I was hoping for.
- Tell me about your favorite website.
SEO Specialist
Had a phone call with HR, then they sent me a take-home assessment to check my SEO knowledge. After I submitted it, they set up an in-person interview with HR and the SEO lead. The interview itself was pretty standard. After that, HR emailed me with a grammar mistake, which is whatever, mistakes happen. But when I asked about salary, I was shocked they paid less than 55k in NYC. Even crazier, she totally ghosted my emails after I asked for a bit more money. HR showed her unprofessionalism when I asked about the compensation package, telling me that info was on their website!
- Can you explain your reasoning for selecting long-tailed keywords in the hotel assessment you completed?
