Candidate interview experiences
First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Nextdoor.
Product Manager
HR reached out for a 30 min phone chat. It involved typical generic behavioral questions, and some about their products to gauge interest and familiarity. They mentioned they'd update about the next round with the HM. However, I was ghosted and got no reply to follow-ups. Terrible experience and recruiting practice.
- Can you describe your PM superpower?
- Tell me about some generic behavioral questions.
Product Manager
I talked with Ginny Leung, a recruiter at Nextdoor, who kept me in the loop about the company's progress in building out their ads product team. I also had two really good chats with the Product Leads who were on the lookout for technical product managers. It was a really positive experience overall, and even though I didn't make it to the next round of interviews, I appreciated how engaged and professional everyone was.
- Can you describe your product philosophy?
Product Manager
The interview process was pretty typical, starting with a call with the recruiter and then the hiring manager, followed by a long final round with multiple interviews. I spent over 6 hours interviewing and a lot of time preparing. The interviews themselves were standard, but after the final round, I was ghosted despite reaching out multiple times. It was really rude to put a candidate through all that and not even follow up with an answer. For a company that wants to build community, Nextdoor really needs to improve how they handle interviews and treat people.
