It was a pretty easy and nice interview process. First, I spoke with the head of the Product Sales team for the US, who was really great and we actually became friends later. He asked good questions and was prepared, plus he was really open about the job. Then I had 2 more interviews. One was with the VP for Sales, who was very friendly, professional, and asked detailed questions about my past experience, how I see the market, and my plan for market penetration. I had to create and send in a Market Penetration/Sales strategy for the role. The last interview was with the Company President. He wanted to know my thoughts on the new website and my understanding of the market since it was a new thing for them. He had read my strategy document, which was cool, and gave some really good feedback. He seemed impressed with it, which felt great!

Behavioral Technical Other

After my initial phone screen, I had a 3-hour one-on-one interview with the person in charge of the role. It involved personal and technical questions, but the objectives weren't clear as they didn't seem to know the exact role requirements. I suggested creating some documents and an agenda for the job. Following that, I had a full afternoon interview, about 4 hours long, with some senior company members. This also had many personal and technical questions without a clear focus on the job description. At the end, I again asked for more details about the job and a daily agenda. The third interview was with a new hire who was supposed to be my manager. It lasted another 3 hours and included detailed questions about my current job, contacts, and business network. Again, I was asked to provide more information. Finally, after 3 months, I received an email for a background check and references, which I submitted. They contacted my references and scheduled a confirmation interview, but never followed through, which made me look bad. It's now been 4 months, and despite all my follow-ups and emails, I still haven't received a response. I feel the company lacks direction, and despite polite staff, there seem to be too many leaders who can't make decisions or do the work.

Behavioral Technical

It started with a recruiter call. I hadn't heard of the company before, which was surprising given their longevity. I passed the initial screen and then had an in-person interview about a week later. That went well, so I was invited back for a second interview with directors and VPs. The people I met seemed competent, but it was clear they didn't have much experience with product management, as their team was quite small. I found it odd that I didn't meet any of my potential peers on the product management team. The interview room and office were pretty run-down, which I now see as a sign they don't invest back into employees or the company. It felt like profits were just being extracted by senior management and investors. The interview questions themselves were okay.

Technical Coding Behavioral

I talked to the recruiter who then set me up for two phone screens. One was supposed to be with a senior person to talk about the company, and the other was a general tech screen. The tech screen was pretty simple but involved a lot of coding. The senior person kept rescheduling and eventually missed the call, then called back late when I had already left. This call was strange; he asked if I was at a computer and then jumped into a tech interview instead of discussing the company. He also asked some odd behavioral questions quite aggressively. I didn't pay it much mind until I got the invitation for an onsite. The onsite wasn't bad, the engineers seemed smart and asked standard data structure/algorithm questions. I then met the same guy from the weird phone screen. He was still acting like a jerk, and afterward, when I asked about the timeline for a decision, he basically told me to take other offers because they move slowly. I was shocked. A few days later, they sent a mediocre offer that I might have considered if not for the bizarre vibe from that one person.
