Production Assistant
Applied in October 2019 when unemployed. Got a call late March/early April 2020 during the pandemic. The job is entry-level in Washington, D.C. They asked about my experience and knowledge of the company, and why I didn't return their call during the pandemic when I was already employed and had things to attend to. They were concerned my work experience was only internships in journalism. They asked me to resubmit my resume and set up a video interview for a show in their D.C. office, which I agreed to. Hours later, they canceled and said they'd get back to me for a new date. I contacted them two weeks later with no response. I emailed them in early May, and they replied, "Dear [Last Name], we went with other candidates." This outcome would have been the same even if I were unemployed due to the pandemic. They should have ended the conversation sooner if not interested instead of being unresponsive. They were also unhappy I was employed. It took them about six months to get back to candidates. This process should have happened before the pandemic. The pandemic is not an excuse. I'm glad they didn't choose me.

Marketing Assistant
Applied through Indeed.com. Got contacted by an outsourced recruiter who described the position but didn't schedule an interview. A week later, I was contacted for an in-person interview with three associates. After the in-person interview, they asked for references. A week after that, I completed two assessments, one each week. I was told a decision would be made by the end of the week, but it was delayed by two more weeks. They finally sent an email rejection at 9:30 PM on a Wednesday night. This was the longest interview process ever and not worth my time. I recommend other places for marketing and IT people.

Editorial
after an initial phone query and message left to the hiring/decision-maker, this person finally responded about three weeks later. wanted to meet -- THAT DAY! gee, thanks, don't get back to me promptly, then it's a crisis and we have to meet immediately!!!!!! i met a few days later with him, spoke privately, then was shuffled to several other departments with whom i would eventually have contact with and would be working with, including HR. was told there would be a test given before being hired. the whole process took about 3 hours. i thought things went well, thanked them and left, hoping to hear back. never did. after a few weeks, i sent personal thank you notes out of courtesy, because i was raised to observe proper ettiquette. still no response. none. total silence. if this place had any class, they would have at least contacted me and said i wasn't qualified, they didn't like me ... whatever. not a word.

Management
I had an interview with the hiring manager and another person. We toured the office, and then there was a follow-up interview. It was a good interview, and they made me feel welcome. They asked some great questions, not the usual ones.
