First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Newsbank.
Software Engineer
I had multiple meetings with the hiring manager, the team, and HR. They all took place on MS Teams and were pretty average. Everyone was nice and punctual, and the whole vibe was very casual. I probably won't use Glassdoor again because they ask way too many questions and it feels a bit invasive to have to fill out that form first.
- Are you familiar with Drupal?
Sales and Marketing Assistant
The hiring and interview process began with a phone chat with the recruiter, followed by the hiring manager. After that, I went to the office for 1-on-1 interviews with the rest of the team to check if NewsBank is a good fit for me and if I'm a good fit for NewsBank. The process was smooth. I was kept informed of the status the whole time. The recruiter did a great job with the process.
- What five words would your current supervisor use to describe you?
- What makes you want to work at NewsBank?
- Could you describe your background?
National Account Representative
Got a referral from a friend, so I set up a chat with the head of sales. It was a good talk, went pretty well. A week later, I went in for some personality tests. They said I could see the results after. After the tests, the next person I was meant to meet with had a meeting. Nobody knew what to do, so the receptionist sent me out. I followed up a few times by phone and email, but they never got back to me. I heard the job was never filled, though.
- The company cares more about personality assessments than the interview itself.
Sales
The interview process at this company is INSANE!! I had the initial HR phone interview. Then I had three separate phone interviews with management. I was asked to do a "Mock" sales call, and try to sell them something using the PSS sales training platform. After that I had to take two personality tests, read an article of my choosing, then write a summary of what I learned. The final task was to write a paragraph on my experience. The final assignment consisted of a really accurate account of my experience. UGH...Don't waste your time (7 days) buying into this convoluted, invasive and inappropriate process.
- The questions on the personality tests were absurd.
- I bite my fingernails.
- I'm always tired.
