The interview process was really professional and well thought out. The Manager of Recruiting was totally prepared. It started with two phone calls (the first one was just to reach out and the second was a Q&A after they looked at my resume), plus some emails back and forth. Then I had a scheduled GoToMeeting with the Manager of Recruiting and then with my potential boss (the SVP). After that, they had me fly out from LA to Saint Louis for more detailed interviews with Construction Managers, a Project Coordinator, and to meet some of the team. They were super thorough, and I felt really respected and engaged the whole time.

I applied online and then heard back from HR the next day. They scheduled me for a quick phone chat. It was more of a get-to-know-you call, where they told me more about the job and checked if I was still keen. That call took about half an hour. The week after, I had two in-person interviews lined up, one with HR and another with my future manager, both on the same day. In total, these lasted about an hour. They focused on learning about me and how the role fit within NewGround/Adrenaline. No strict behavioral questions, which was nice. A few days later, I found out my manager was traveling, but we'd have a lunch interview (sushi!) when he got back. We talked about the same things as before, and about a week later, I got the offer.

Behavioral Presentation

I submitted my resume through the NewGrounds website after seeing the opening on Indeed. I was super excited because NewGround does work in architectural design, engineering, and graphics/signage, which are my top 3 interests. The Recruiting Manager first emailed me saying I wasn't selected, but after I followed up and asked for feedback, I addressed his concerns and got an interview. My resume was creative but hard to read, and he also didn't know I lived nearby. After I fixed my resume and addressed the location issue, I got the interview. This job search has been long, and I've asked many places for feedback. NewGround's manager was one of the few who gave me helpful, actionable advice. Architects love that! He was professional, friendly, and thorough the whole time. They gave me a detailed tour and office history, and I met the Director. The Director was nice and thorough too, but I got the feeling he'd already decided on another candidate since I was interviewing at the end of the process. The interview with him was quick, and I struggled to show my passion for the company; it felt more like an info session than an interview. I'll definitely apply to NewGround again in the future. I just hope I can interview sooner after openings are posted next time.

The whole process took 5 weeks and had three rounds, all pretty easy. They didn't ask much about my skills, but the follow-up after the last interview was terrible; they said they'd get back to me in 24 hours and I heard nothing for two weeks. Really disappointing after they were so quick at first.
