My experience with the NYT was great. The hiring manager was sharp and communicative. It began with a phone screening, followed by an on-site interview with the hiring manager and a senior editor. Things seemed to go well, and they were very encouraging. The next step was a timed take-home test. I performed well, but submitted it late due to an anxiety attack. I was rejected for being late, which I understood, but was surprised by the lack of response to my follow-up emails explaining my anxiety and asking about support mechanisms. I sent a second email much later, also without a response. I expected the NYT to have a way to address such situations, even if it's after the decision. The anxiety attack triggered a prolonged bout of Hyperventilation Syndrome. Overall, I was surprised by how it turned out and hope organizations are more understanding about mental health challenges.

I talked to a recruiter who told me the pay was $100K. They asked me some basic questions like why I was interested in the NYT and what I was hoping to find in a job. It was just a phone screen, so they didn't really go into detail about the job or the team. After that, I never heard back from them.

Applied via LinkedIn, heard back about a week later for an HR hosted interview. It was about 30 minutes, mostly behavioral questions and seeing if I understood the company. HR was patient and the vibe was chill. They also talked about company culture and how things work. Didn't get an offer, but it was a good experience overall.
