First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at New York State Thruway Authority.
Construction Manager
HR talked to me first, then the head of the department. After that, there was a drug test. It was pretty straightforward. I also had to get some paperwork notarized on my own time because the notary there had crazy hours.
- Can you discuss your familiarity with plans and shop drawings?
TCI
It was a very straightforward process. A secretary called me and asked to schedule an interview. I scheduled it for the next day. There were no difficult questions.
- Tell me about your background.
Toll Collector
It was in person, and they asked me about my past jobs and what I think about customer service. They also asked about stuff I like doing when I'm not working. Pretty much, it all comes down to how the hiring manager is feeling that day.
- For a $3.15 toll, how much change would a customer get back if they paid with $20?
PTTC
Super simple and easy interview process, they just ask about your work availability and then you take a basic math test. You need a 70 or higher to pass. They review your availability and then offer you the job or say it doesn't work out.
- Are you able to perform basic math calculations?
