My interview process with New York Pilates was one of the most positive and engaging I’ve ever had. It was a well-rounded mix of phone and video interviews, shadowing, and even a couple of written exercises. From start to finish, everyone I interacted with was incredibly kind, welcoming, and genuinely enthusiastic, not just about the company, but about connecting with me as a person. What stood out most was how collaborative the experience felt. It didn’t just feel like I was being asked a list of standard interview questions, instead, we were actively ideating and problem-solving together from the beginning. I had the chance to have meaningful conversations that gave me insight into the company’s values, goals, and vibrant culture. The process was thoughtfully thorough, and I really appreciated getting to meet potential future coworkers and begin building those relationships early on. By the end, I felt a strong sense of clarity and confidence about the role, the team, and what to expect moving forward. There was a true sense of transparency and support throughout every step, and it was clear how much care and intention the team puts into their hiring process. I left the experience feeling not only excited about the opportunity but also deeply impressed by the community and culture at New York Pilates.

I was asked to submit two audition tapes: one showing me teach at least two people in their location, and another explaining my interest in working at New York Pilates. I didn't get an offer, but they did call to let me know they were passing on me. They told me they would 'pass for now,' which I found unprofessional. They said my schedule didn't align and they wanted to see more energy. They suggested I audition again in four months. My feedback for their hiring committee is to rethink their hiring approach; a 20-minute audition tape isn't enough to gauge an instructor's abilities, especially considering my years of experience and client satisfaction. It's their loss.

I applied online and received an email about a day later to set up a phone interview. I talked to the HR manager, and by the end of that call, we arranged an in-person interview. The next day, I visited NYP HQ where I met the HR manager and one of the two Founders. It was a relaxed, conversational interview where we both got a sense of each other to see if it was a good fit.

It was a super easy interview, they were really kind. They asked me to demonstrate my teaching skills for an hour. They were very helpful and encouraging during the interview. I would have really liked to get an offer here.
