Behavioral Presentation

I had 2 interviews with New York Life in Milwaukee. First was a 30-min Zoom call, a 'get to know you' thing about the job. Second was a 90-min Zoom presentation with another interviewee about the company culture and how much money you could make selling life insurance. At the end, we had to write a letter about why we wanted to work there and list 20 people we know.

The company reached out to me about a financial advisor position. Initially, it seemed promising until we discussed compensation. There's essentially no base salary, no benefits, no insurance, and no formal payroll. They require 4 to 6 months of unpaid training. While it's presented as a very aspirational opportunity, looking at it realistically, the setup is quite aggressive. Your earnings could be very good, or you might make nothing at all.

Mid Average Neutral experience Accept offer

It's hard to give a definite rating because experiences differ greatly depending on the Partner (Hiring Manager), their office location, and your state. Most candidates don't know that if an offer is made and accepted, you work with that specific Partner; there's no assignment process. Candidates should research the Partners and try to connect with one they believe would be a good managerial fit. I think good people could have succeeded if they had the chance to work with a leader who was a good match for them.
