HR reached out to me to understand my career aspirations and my interest in NYISO and the specific position. I had applied for the role and received a response within a week, but unfortunately, I wasn't selected to move forward to the next stage.

It was a long waiting game with not much communication. It seems like they were just trying to fill a vacant position rather than addressing a need. It could be worth the wait if you're really interested, especially if you make it to the second round. You meet with team members, senior managers, and then the director. There are many levels of management involved.

I applied online with a referral and got an email a few weeks later for a phone interview. It was a 30-minute call with 2 managers. A week later, I got another email for an in-person interview. I had a face-to-face interview with a panel of 4 people, including managers and HR. Even though I had a Bachelor's degree (they asked for Associate's), my salary requirement was $2,000 below their minimum, and I had a strong referral, I felt disrespected by NYISO. I did a lot of research and was prepared. They said I'd hear back in 1.5 weeks, but it's been a month and no response after I followed up 3 times via email and phone. It was very unprofessional, and I feel let down by the way I was treated, not by the lack of an offer.

Applied online and got a 45-min phone chat with the Hiring Manager. They asked about my background, skills, and resume projects, plus lots of behavioral stuff on leading, handling disputes, and teamwork. Then, an onsite interview three weeks later. First, an hour-long panel with 4 folks, including HR, basically asking the same things as the phone chat. The next half-hour, some team members joined, and I gave a 20-minute technical presentation (prepared and sent beforehand) on a topic I picked. After that, they asked more questions, and a lawyer specifically asked me to explain a technical project part more simply.
