First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at New York Design Architects.
Junior Architect
The interview itself was pretty chill and went well. The actual workplace, though, wasn't the best. They're demanding, but you'll definitely pick up a lot about codes and regulations. The hours are decent, and they even have bagels on Fridays. Plus, the location is great and commuting is easy.
- Could you tell me about your years of experience?
CAD Drafter
They'll get you in and out pretty quick, and they'll tell you a bit about the company, like how long it's been around, but they won't get into the day-to-day operations because it's not really standard, you kind of just do what you're given. You'll get a feel for how things are going within the first few weeks.
- What was your previous employment history?
Intern
The interview process was pretty standard for an architectural firm, felt easy and formal. Make sure you prepare a good question to ask them during the interview.
- Tell me about your favorite project and the reasons behind it.
LEED Manager/Designer
The interview process was quite straightforward, involving a Revit test and some questions about my background and education. However, the overall hiring process was exceptionally lengthy. After I accepted the offer, there was a complete lack of communication for two months, with unanswered emails and calls. Eventually, they got back to me, revealing they had initially hired someone else but then decided they still needed me. This whole experience really shows the company's culture; they don't seem to prioritize the candidate.
