I had an hour-long phone chat where they really dug into my background and told me a lot about the company. Then, I went to their office for an in-person interview. It was pretty easy to find. After chilling in the lobby for a bit, I went to a conference room. The main guy greeted me and spent about 15 minutes explaining their interview process. Suddenly, 8 people showed up in the room, which was unexpected but I managed. They all asked me technical questions based on my resume. I felt like I really connected with them, making them laugh and answering their questions really well. I was on fire with my answers, explaining code stuff clearly and easily. A week later, I got an email from an HR person I'd never met, saying they went with someone who fit their exact requirements better, or maybe it was an internal hire and my interview was just for show. The interviewer didn't even give me his card, which felt a bit cheap. I was pretty bummed out.
