First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at New York City Department of Sanitation.
Database and CRM
I had an onsite panel interview with 4 senior people. It was mostly about my projects and any past work experience. They also asked technology questions related to my resume and basic SQL questions. Finally, there were behavioral questions, like asking about a time I failed and how I handled it.
- Can you briefly discuss your projects?
- Can you briefly go over your resume and technologies you've worked with?
- Tell me about the technologies mentioned on your resume.
Outreach Associate
I first did an application online via the AmericCorps website. After that, I was phone screened by NYC Service. A few days later, I was scheduled to interview at DSNY and I was told 4 days after my interview that I was hired.
- What is your understanding of sustainability?
- Can you tell me about your previous work experiences?
- Could you describe the responsibilities of your past roles?
Intern
I had two interviewers, a chief and a researcher, who interviewed me simultaneously. I went to their office in the Wall Street financial district dressed formally. I was quite nervous because I had never experienced a 2-on-1 interview before.
- Regarding sanitation, why are you interested?
- What knowledge do you possess about our company?
Intern
I had one interview that I thought went really well, but then they ghosted me. Everyone was super friendly and the questions were mostly about personality, with just a couple of technical ones. I also had to fill out an interview form.
- Do you have any experience with Linux?
