The HR folks were super nice and easy to talk to. They asked me stuff about myself, how I handle my time, and what I was looking for in the job. The setup process was quick and smooth. I guess having done similar jobs before made it all go faster.
- What's your availability to start?
- Describe how you handle working under pressure.
Grocery Assistant
The interview process was straightforward. I was contacted by the store manager and invited for an interview. The interview itself took about 30 minutes. We discussed how my skills and past experiences could benefit the team. The manager also went over the job details, including the hours and rules for the work rosters.
- Can you elaborate on how your previous experiences align with the requirements of this role?
- Are you currently involved in any other work commitments?
- What is your availability like regarding the work schedules?
Grocery Assistant
The interview process was pretty standard for a supermarket, but the whole experience was very unprofessional. The interviewer showed up 20 minutes late without any explanation or apology. Instead of using an office, they decided to have the interview at a cafe table that was shared with other customers, which made it difficult because people were unintentionally eavesdropping.
- Could you tell me about your past experience?
- Can you elaborate on the item 'x' mentioned on your CV?
Cashier
About 2 weeks after applying online I got a call to set up an interview. When I got there at the scheduled time, the interviewer wasn't there, so someone else did it. It lasted about an hour. He asked a bunch of questions from a paper, like typical stuff, hobbies, past work experience, and many behavioral questions. Then he told me about four jobs they could offer and asked which I'd prefer. He said they'd let me know in about 5 business days. I felt like they really wanted to hire me, but the store never replied. I would've called them back, but I took another job, so I didn't bother.
- Tell me about a time you made a mistake and what you learned from it.
- Can you share an instance where you demonstrated leadership?
- How would you handle a situation where an employee wasn't following store policies if you were in charge?
