First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at New Teacher Center.
Associate
The interview process started with a phone screen with a recruiter. Then, I had a virtual interview with two team members. The last interview involved a performance task and an interview with a panel of five people. They asked me about my education, PD experience, and DEI.
- Could you please provide a summary of your work experience?
Partnerships Manager
I had a phone interview first, then I got a take-home assignment. They said it would take 8 hours, which might be right depending on how much you research and detail in the design. They initially wanted it by Wednesday, but then asked for it by Sunday, which was fine since I was almost done. I sent it in right away. It's been over 12 weeks and I still haven't heard anything back. I think it's rude to ask someone to spend their time on an assignment and then not even send a rejection email. I think the interview process shows how they'll treat you once hired, and it's usually less. I won't apply to NTC again.
- Hiring assignment
- Writing sample
- Recognizing trends
Induction Mentor
First, there was a phone chat with the director to screen me. Then, I did an in-person lesson plan demo. On the same day, I also met some other directors and did a scenario role play. It all took about 2 hours.
- How would you handle a teacher facing difficulties with school politics?
Administrative Assistant
I had an interview for an entry-level position. I was in a room with the HR rep, my direct supervisor, and my intermediate supervisor. They asked me about my experience with Word, Excel, and Outlook. They said that any prior experience was a bonus.
- Can you tell me about your biggest weakness?
