I got this job through a referral and the whole thing took about 2 weeks. The first step was a technical interview that covered technical stuff and some behavioral questions about the TSE job. Then, I had a meeting with the Hiring Manager where they asked some basic behavioral questions. After that, there was a take-home assignment where I had to set up a New Relic agent in a demo project. Next up was another technical interview, again with some basic technical and behavioral questions. The final stage was with HR, where we talked more about the job and salary. The whole process was pretty fast and clear.

First, you apply online. Then, you'll complete a Heroku Challenge, which involves simulating a conversation with a customer who's having an issue. It's not super tough, but it's a good idea to look into the product and any existing support info. After that, there's a phone interview, about an hour of chatting with standard interview questions. They're really friendly! Next is a tech screen call to check out your troubleshooting skills; it's not too hard. Finally, there's an onsite interview, which is about 3 hours of talking with different folks from the support team. Everyone's super nice, and they'll ask more typical interview questions to see if you'd vibe with the team. They even treat you to lunch from a food cart afterward.

Confirmed questions2 questions
  • Imagine a customer is upset because their ticket hasn't been responded to within the contracted hour, and it's been sitting for 12 hours. How would you deal with this?
  • Tell me about the last thing you read.

Behavioral Technical

It began with a casual 30-minute phone chat with a manager. Then, I got a small task: set up the New Relic agent using my preferred platform/code and then create a customer support scenario based on that experience. After finishing that, I had a 3-hour in-person interview with 6-8 team members, split into three parts, meeting with Technical Support Managers, Support Engineers, and Business Support Engineers. A 15-minute video call with a Senior Technical Recruiter was supposed to be the last step, but it didn't happen. All the interviews had straightforward questions, mostly about how I'd handle situations, my interests, and some behavioral stuff, no real technical questions during the in-person part. I was supposed to have that final chat with the recruiter, but they were sick and missed our rescheduled meeting too. Even though the recruiter eventually gave me some info, I never got a follow-up email. A rejection email would've been better.
