First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at New Flyer.
Project Coordinator
I had a virtual meeting with the Manager. We talked about my past projects and leadership experiences. They also asked me some questions about how I handle working with others and dealing with stress during projects, covering project management, teamwork, and communication skills. The discussion touched upon my technical work and how I contribute to making decisions with a team.
- Can you state the four key principles of project management?
Production Worker
The interview was straightforward and brief. It was conducted online. I learned about the position through a women in manufacturing program. The interviewer covered all the necessary job details during our conversation. They mentioned it's a good company to work for with a pleasant and healthy work environment.
- Are you okay with lifting weights of 25lbs?
- What is 1/3 as a decimal?
- Have you used power tools before?
People Services Specialist
The first step was a screening interview. It was quite informal, mostly just an information exchange. The second interview was more in-depth and engaging. I was given a tour afterwards which I found really interesting. They said they'd let me know their decision either way, but I never heard back. I thought that was a bit unprofessional, though I get how things can slip through the cracks from my own experience with hiring.
- Describe a situation where you had a conflict with a colleague and explain how you handled it.
Cyber Security Analyst
What a great interview experience! From the moment I started, I felt welcomed and everything was communicated really clearly. The interviewers were great, really engaging and polite, and they asked some really good questions that were spot on. They were also super open about the company and made sure everything was organized smoothly, which just added to how professional it all felt. Excited to see what's next!
- Can you start by telling me about yourself?
- What specifically about this role and our company caught your attention?
- Could you share an example of a difficult work situation you encountered and how you resolved it?
