It started with a quick 10-minute phone call, basically to see if we were a basic fit. For example, since the org supports bills that make abortion more accessible, they asked if I was pro-abortion. If that went well, I was then set up for a longer video chat, and then we did a group activity, and a presentation.

The interview was laid-back but organized. The interviewer was really nice and made sure I felt comfortable and not too anxious. New Era is all about developing young leaders and giving them chances to do well and grow, so the internship interview was more about understanding me, my goals, and how I'd fit in, instead of testing my skills or background.

There were a couple of interview rounds. The first one was virtual, and the subsequent ones were in person. The interview environment was very easy and laid back! They asked a lot of questions looking for examples of your experience with skills they are looking for.
