The recruiter contacted me directly, I didn't apply. First, there was a recruiter screening call. Then, a 1.5-hour technical coding exercise, which I passed. The recruiter then emailed to schedule a call with the IT manager and I sent my availability. After that, I was ghosted and got no replies to my emails or calls.

After I filled out a quick form on their website, a recruiter got in touch within a week asking for my full resume. About a week after that, the recruiter set up a phone interview where they asked about my background and also discussed the role more with me. Some concerning signs appeared during this chat because the recruiter seemed to know very little about the job, what skills or experience were needed, and the team the contractor would be joining. We scheduled a second remote interview for the next week with the team. After I emailed to confirm the details, and we had set a date and time, I heard nothing back from the recruiter. I figured the recruiter was just swamped with other roles so I made up an excuse to miss work and waited for a call or email on the day we agreed on for the interview. As it turned out, the second interview never happened. It was the most unprofessional experience I've had by far.

The interview was quick but I enjoyed it. They didn't ask the usual questions and the interviewer was super nice. I got the key details about the job, like the dress code, work hours, and what benefits are offered. They pretty much decided to hire me on the spot and told me to wait for word from corporate after they got my background checks back. Overall, it was a good interview.
