First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Netmarble.
Business Development Manager
We started with introductions, then discussed your background in the gaming industry, your knowledge and passion for games. We also talked about using data to make decisions in strategic partnerships, and if you've ever driven a deal from start to finish yourself. Finally, we touched on your business English and other skills.
- Can you talk about a game you're particularly interested in?
Customer Service Representative
The interview process was quick and straightforward, with the first round conducted online and the second round in person. It was convenient to get to the location. The interview included general questions about customer support and prior experience in the gaming industry.
- Could you share your background in the gaming sector?
Production Manager
This was a super long interview process, taking about 5 months in total. It felt like everything needed approval from Korea, even though I was applying for a US-based job. It involved in-person meetings with the CEO, a Skype call with the head of production and HR, and then another Skype call with Korean executives. After a month of waiting and me following up, HR said they were still scheduling the call to Korea and that I was one of two finalists. Another month passed, and I got a generic email saying they weren't moving forward. The whole thing was handled really poorly with no communication or explanation.
- The HR person mentioned that NetMarble has a shorter waiting period for benefits compared to many other companies.
HR Generalist
The HR manager set up a 30-minute video call. I spoke with both the HR manager and the CFO. The camera angle made it hard to keep eye contact, and the video/audio quality was poor, which was surprising given it's a gaming company. I answered everything I could and didn't think there were any issues from either side. I think I didn't get the job because I don't have enough HR experience. But I wanted to share because the end of the interview was really strange. The CFO said I looked like someone who would cry easily and asked how I'd handle tough criticism from bosses. It makes me wonder if the other reviews about sexism are true. Why ask that in an interview, and how do you expect to attract people with that attitude?
- Can you list some HR laws you are familiar with?
- What Excel formulas are you proficient in?
- How would you manage receiving harsh criticism from senior management?
