Manager
Phone Interview: This is a short screening call with a recruiter or hiring manager where you talk about your background and why you are interested in the role. "Round Robin" On-site/Virtual Interviews: This is the main part of the process. You meet with several interviewers—from your potential manager to peers and cross-functional partners—in back-to-back meetings. They ask behavioral and skill-focused questions to understand your experience and how you would fit with the team. Final Interview: The final step usually is a conversation with a senior leader who makes the final hiring decision.
- What key responsibilities did you have in your previous role that are relevant here? What do you believe makes you a strong candidate for this position?
Manager
Several interviews with different divisions. Pretty long process. Very interesting talks with the interviewers. HR supported the process well all the time. It took some time to complete everything but in the end the final offer came quickly.
- Your perspective about the industry, its competitors, threats, and where you see growth opportunities
Escalation Manager
I went through three 30-minute phone interviews. The first was with the recruiter to verify I met their cultural needs. I then had another interview with the hiring manager. This was a very pleasant call, and he said they would be in touch. Finally, I had a Skype interview focused on technical knowledge, I didn't feel like I was rushed or that the questions were outside the scope of the description. They flew me down to Los Gatos a few weeks later where I had six 30-minute interviews. This was very stressful and ran like clockwork, they asked their questions and right at 30 minutes they got up and let the next person come in for the interview. After the first four interviews, they said depending on how I did on those, they would push me through to the two directors (employee and HR). They gave me lunch as if I was going to eat it with all the nerves while I waited to see if I moved on with the interview, and I waited what seemed like an eternity. Someone came in, and I was moved on to the two director interviews. I really felt like I hit it off and answered with what I thought were the best answers I could have given. Two weeks later they called me and said I didn't have the SQL experience they were looking for and decided to go with someone else. Since I was interviewed, the same exact position has been posted twice so I don't know if they didn't hire anyone or they are just growing.
- Lots of cultural type questions plus what I would do if there were multiple escalations happening and which ones I would make a priority.
