& Process

I got contacted for a recruiter call a day after I submitted my application. We had that call the same week, and then scheduled a call with the hiring manager for the following week. After that, we waited a week before I got an update that I’d be moving forward to a team interview. I did the 2.5 hour team interview and then didn’t get any update for 2 weeks. I’m assuming I’m rejected, but I’m disappointed I got ghosted, especially since this is Netflix. I still had really great conversations with everyone I talked to. The interview questions were more conversational than serious or tough. Overall it was a pleasant experience aside from being ghosted.

I interviewed for the Senior Node.js Developer role at Netflix, and the whole process was well organized and structured. The first step was a phone interview with HR, where we talked about my professional achievements, my Node.js experience, and what I expect from working in a new company. The HR manager was friendly and professional, which helped create a comfortable atmosphere for our conversation. The second step was a technical interview with two developers. They gave me several live coding tasks focused on building a RESTful API, processing data, and using multithreading in Node.js. The tasks were interesting and challenging for me, but I managed to solve most of them thanks to my experience and preparation. The third step involved meeting future colleagues and discussing the projects the team is currently working on. This helped me get a sense of the company culture and team dynamics. Overall, I was impressed by the team’s professionalism and their approach to the interview. Even though some questions were difficult, they helped me understand better which competencies are most important for this position. I left the interview with positive feelings and ready to join Netflix.

I was contacted through my LinkedIn profile – the hiring manager and I shared a mutual friend. After I accepted the invite to chat we had a long phone call. Around two weeks later I went in for a full day of interviews and met with six people. The following week I had another two interviews with the higher management. At that point the hiring manager said there was some reorg happening and they would need to pause the process for a while. Overall the whole process felt fair and everyone stayed friendly during all the interviews.
