Went through a final onsite interview, and was told I'd hear back within a week. It's been three weeks with no update, despite multiple follow-ups with the recruiting team. Had to find another HR person on LinkedIn to get any response. The interview process itself was messed up. I was expecting three 1-hour technical rounds, but it ended up being one 2-hour behavioral round. Lots of miscommunication. Really disappointed with the candidate experience afterwards. A rejection takes seconds to send. Ghosting people after a final round, especially those who paid to travel, makes the company look bad. NetApp should really fix their hiring communication.

It was a time waste - a 1 HR introduction call, then a manager call where we had a casual discussion about the role, followed by 3 technical interviews. The technical interviews covered DSA, OS, multi-threading, system design and puzzles, and more DSA. The whole interview process took an entire day. The first interviewer was really rude and didn't even bother to be polite. The offer was disrespectful and they didn't even acknowledge our first conversation. I had already made my expectations clear, so it was a waste of time to be given such low offers, even below my current pay. This is not what you'd expect after clearing so many interview rounds.

So first I had this interview with an engineer from NetApp on Zoom. He started asking about my experience and what I do at my job and asks a couple of questions about it. He then asked me a couple of technical questions, one of them I answered correctly, the other one, he had to help me reach the answer, but it was ok, because I passed to the next phase. In the second interview, a new engineer asks me in more detail about my current job and some technical questions about it like, how does I2C work or questions about Linux kernel development. After this, he asks me some questions about some code he writes while sharing his screen and, with some help from him, I answer all of his questions. I got a rejection email a couple of days after this interview and, when asking about feedback on why I was rejected, the recruiter offered to give me a call, something no other company had ever done to me. In the call, he explained that I didn't have as much experience as they would have like but he encourages me to apply for a new job soon.
