Senior Technical Project Manager
The initial interview went very well, but my recruiter was informed that I wasn't moving forward due to a lack of client-facing experience, despite my consulting background involving extensive interaction with vendors and clients. After I pushed back, the CEO requested a direct meeting. She assured me my experience was relevant and we discussed current projects, pain points, and relevant technologies. I offered alternative technologies if direct experience was lacking. We also talked about their desired processes, current clients, and how my past work and education, specifically a Public Health degree and experience with a Healthcare company on an Opiate epidemic project, made me a strong fit. The CEO felt it was a great match and only needed to speak with the operations manager. I prepared for the role over the weekend, anticipating an offer. The CEO promised a response the next day or Monday, but neither occurred. Inquiries were met with silence. I later discovered the position was pulled because they no longer wanted to pay the budgeted $120k, cutting the budget to $85k. This reflects either incompetence or corporate greed, as they wasted everyone's time. Reviews suggest the CEO is an authoritarian micromanager, and I'm glad I didn't end up working there.
- Can you tell me about your past projects?
- Walk me through your previous projects.
- Could you describe your prior work experiences?
Marketing Manager
It was great! The HR manager reached out to schedule an initial call. After that, I received an assignment to complete within a specific timeframe. It wasn't difficult or time consuming, and I actually thought it was a great way to get a better feel from candidates on their skill set. This progressed me to the next interview, with a final CEO interview. This was followed by reference checks, and my references actually commented to me how organized they were in setting up a time to speak to them, and how easy the process was!
- What qualities do you seek in a leader?
- Can you describe a significant failure and the lessons you gained from it?
- What is your management approach and your preferred communication strategies?
Project Coordinator
I applied via HireArt and heard back about a week later for an online interview on the platform. I had to answer some text-based questions, record a video response, and finish an Excel task. A week after that, I was invited for an in-person interview where we discussed the role, my experience, the office vibe, and how I handle failure and fast-paced settings. They said they'd be in touch by the end of the week to schedule something for the next week. I followed up a few times over the next few weeks, but never heard back. I even contacted HireArt about my application status, but also got no response. The whole thing took 3 weeks.
- Can you share an instance of a time you experienced failure?
Digital Project Manager
I applied on the website and they sent me an email asking me to fill out a questionnaire and send them at least two examples of spreadsheets or documents I've managed that show my project management and organizational skills. I followed up and thanked them, but never heard back. I guess I'll rate them poorly because they didn't even send a rejection email, and that questionnaire was a lot of work.
- Tell me about a skill or expertise you've learned or developed while on the job.
- Which companies or products do you find most appealing?
