The whole process was drawn-out, sluggish, and lacked professionalism. It took 6 weeks to get through 3 interview rounds, none of which were particularly challenging. I never heard back after the interviews. HR's communication was poor, making it a complete waste of my time.

Applied for a role, but was selected by the CMO to interview for this different role without any communication about the change. The meetings with NESN people were great and I felt a connection, getting excited. However, the interview with people at the parent company was shockingly disappointing. Two of the three interviewers were lovely and interested in a conversation, but a key decision-maker arrived late and was rude, seemingly taking something I said as a professional insult. Her demeanor made it clear the work culture wasn't good if she could be triggered and act unprofessionally. I sent a thoughtful email to the CMO with follow-up questions and shared my perspective. Then I was ghosted for over a month. I reached out to a former colleague involved in the process who was horrified by the ghosting and raised the issue internally. By the end of the day, I had a call with the CMO, which was an 8-minute call where he stumbled over his words and couldn't look at the camera. After a quick apology for the lack of communication, it was over. I knew I wouldn't get it after the last interview; it was about the principle of making them show up after they ghosted me to prove a point. They weren't ready for someone like me because they couldn't tell me with clarity what success looks like or which target audience they were designing the experience for.

It was a long, detailed process that took about a month. It started with an initial phone interview with HR, then I had 2 1/2 hours of in-person interviews with a panel of producers and senior producers. After that, there were a couple more phone interviews with producers. I got an offer, but turned it down because the salary was much lower than average for the role. While everyone I met seemed great to work for, they really need to increase their pay to match the industry standard to attract top talent.

The interview process involved a phone interview for the first round, followed by an in-person interview at the NESN Watertown office for the second round. I had a good conversation with the hiring manager. They have strong expectations regarding responsibility and initiative. Networking and experience are extremely important. This is an unpaid internship.
