Senior Product Designer
First, there was a portfolio review where we went through one project in detail for about 30 minutes. The panel was really respectful and asked good questions, not trying to trick me. After that presentation interview, I had individual meetings with a product manager and an engineer.
- Can you explain the reasoning behind your design choices for the presented project?
Product Designer
The best interviewing process I have had. Began with a call from talent acquisition, then a casual lunch onsite with a designer or two, then a phone conversation with a designer manager and then a long, but friendly on-site interview. The onsite included a one hour portfolio presentation and a white boarding challenge. Everyone was very friendly, enthusiastic, accommodating and collaborative. Though it was a very long day, everyone made me feel super comfortable and at ease.
- How do you think others would describe your work style?
- If you had a design superpower, what would it be?
- What draws you to work for NerdWallet?
Product Designer
Got contacted by an internal recruiter. First, I had a 30-min chat with the recruiter. Then, I had a 45-min 1:1 with a senior designer. I got rejected by email from the recruiter 2 weeks after the 1:1. Pretty standard process overall.
- Are you more focused on UX or UI aspects of product design?
