First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Neon One.
Implementation Consultant
The interview process was managed by an external organization, HighlightTA, who handled the initial screening, interview scheduling, and offer communication. I started with a recruiter screening from HighlightTA. Then, I had my first interview with Neon One, meeting with two Implementation Managers. The next step involved a technical assessment where I had to project manage sample data import into the Neon One CRM, which is a core part of the job. The final interview, on the same day I was contacted about it, focused on reviewing the project and discussing company culture fit, and it was with Neon One. After completing the projects and multiple interviews, and despite flexibility in scheduling, my overall experience worsened. Post-offer, HighlightTA's urgency, poor communication, and lack of empathy were quite negative. The process should also allow candidates to assess if the organization aligns with their goals, not just the other way around.
- What experience do you have working with nonprofits, and what is your experience with data manipulation?
Social Media Manager
The first interview got rescheduled without checking my availability. The second interview with the Director of the department went smoothly, and a third interview was set up right after. In the third interview, two staff members showed up who weren't on the invite, which was a surprise since the invite mentioned a different person. One of them didn't seem very engaged. Sadly, I got ghosted by HR after following up and didn't get any detailed feedback, even though I was pretty far along. The job was later reposted on LinkedIn.
- What makes you the best candidate for this role?
Product Manager
I applied online and heard back from Neon One’s HR system the next day with a generic message and a link to schedule a 30-minute phone call. I scheduled it and got a calendar invite. But things got weird. A few hours before the call, the invite was changed to two days later, with no confirmation or apology. Then, 15 minutes before the new time, a Google Meet link was added, and I found out it would be audio-only anyway. I joined on time, but nobody showed up for 5 minutes. I emailed, and the recruiter finally joined, giving a weak apology. She sounded like she didn't want to be there and rushed through a company/benefits overview, skipping details about the actual role. She asked me to give a background overview without asking if I had questions. She didn't ask any follow-up questions on my detailed response and just moved on to scripted, generic expertise and behavioral questions she didn't seem to understand. This was the worst recruiter screening ever – she seemed rude, unprepared, and checked out. The next day, I got an automated rejection email. While I'm okay with not moving forward, the whole process was unprofessional and left a bad impression of Neon One. My advice: Neon One needs to fix their recruitment process. Either get a new recruiter or train them better on professionalism and engagement. First impressions matter, and this was way off.

Product Owner
I had a nice chat with the hiring product manager, and it felt really comfortable. I thought I'd move forward, but they let me know they hired someone else. That's fine, I wasn't the best fit.
- Can you tell me about the responsibilities of a Product Owner?
- What aspects of the Product Owner role do you find enjoyable?
- What aspects of the Product Owner role do you find unenjoyable?
